The Halifax Grammar School (Grammar) is seeking experienced, motivated and qualified individuals to apply for a full-time position as Student Life Coordinator beginning in August 2026.
The Student Life Coordinator is a critical leadership position that integrates student leadership, wellness and inclusivity initiatives across all divisions, ensuring every student has the resources to flourish and a sense of belonging. The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of comprehensive student life programs and services designed to foster an inclusive, healthy, and high-achieving student body from Junior Primary through Grade 12. This role directly coordinates the school's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and leads Student Leadership and Wellness programming as part of the Student Success Team.
The Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, school leadership, Learning Strategists, and IB Programme Coordinators to support the holistic development of students in alignment with the school’s mission, vision, and values. This position does not provide clinical counselling or therapeutic services but plays a key role in student wellbeing, belonging and engagement, and leadership development.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree
(Education, Counselling, Psychology, Leadership, or related field preferred)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in an independent school or similar setting, covering multiple divisions
(e.g., Primary and Secondary)
Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health
Demonstrated experience managing student support programs
Demonstrated leadership of staff and complex student communities
Strong knowledge of DEIB principles, as they relate to student development
Exceptional organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills
The successful candidate will be subject to passing and maintaining a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector check.
