Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging

Land Acknowledgement

We acknowledge that the Halifax Grammar School is located in the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People, and we acknowledge them as the past, present, and future caretakers of this land.

Belonging at Grammar

At the Halifax Grammar School, we believe that excellence is achieved when we grow and nurture a community that embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion, where diversity is celebrated, fairness is practiced, and every individual feels seen, heard, and valued – where every individual feels a sense of belonging.

We believe Diversity is expressed through our community’s distinct individuals and groups. Equity is expressed through our fair treatment of all members and reflected in our policies, practices, and processes — acknowledging both individual and systemic differences, disparities, injustices, and barriers. And inclusion is expressed through our shared sense of belonging, where every member enjoys equal access to opportunity and support to explore, express, and achieve their full potential in academics, athletics, the arts, and altruism.

These values collectively form our foundation of belonging at Grammar.
