Grammar Gear and Dress Code

At the Halifax Grammar School, our students are welcome to dress casually on most days of the year, while respecting a dress code that requires them to wear clothing appropriate to the occasion and the institution.
Grammar Gear Mondays 
Every Monday, all students are expected to show their school spirit. Students wear either Grammar-branded clothing, known as Grammar Gear (such as sweatshirts, hoodies, or team wear), or their formal attire.

Everyday Dress (Tuesday through Friday) 
On most days, our students dress casually. Students should be comfortable and ready to learn. Our only guideline is a shared expectation of respect for the school environment.

Required Formal Attire Days 
There are a handful of special days throughout the year when our students dress in formal attire to represent the school. These include school photo day, Remembrance Day, concerts, and special off-campus field trips.

  • Prep School

    Our Prep School students are required to have the following items:

    Formal Attire
    • White dress shirt (long or short sleeve) with khaki pants or skirt/skort;
