Apply for a Gordon Stirrett Wealth Management Community Service Grant today. These grants (valued up to $1000 each) provide seed money for student-led community projects, helping students to make a difference locally, regionally, and globally. Students in Grades 7–12 are eligible to apply.

The Gordon Stirrett Wealth Management Community Service Grant

Established in 2010 by alumni parent Gordon Stirrett (Scott Stirrett ’09), the Gordon Stirrett Wealth Management Community Service Grant empowers Grammar students to bring meaningful, community-focused projects to life. Each year, grants of up to $1,000 provide seed funding for student-led initiatives that make a real difference—locally, nationally, and globally.

Open to students in Grades 7–12, this program is a cornerstone of our Altruism pillar, offering young leaders the opportunity to design and deliver projects that support causes they care about. Since its creation, the grant has helped Grammar students develop their leadership, deepen their understanding of service, and contribute positively to the world around them.

Ronald McDonald House Home for Dinner Program

Since 2013, the Ronald McDonald House (RMH) Home for Dinner program gives students the opportunity to plan, shop for, and prepare a meal, weekly, for families staying at RMH. Beyond giving of themselves and their time, students learn valuable skills in the kitchen, in preparing healthy meals, and in budgeting. Last year alone, 105 students participated in the program, preparing a total of 27 meals for families staying at RMH. This would not be possible without the support of the Gordon Stirrett Wealth Management Community Service Grant.
“The Halifax Grammar School continues to make a truly remarkable impact on the Ronald McDonald House through the Home for Dinner program. Our staff, volunteers, and families always look forward to their visits. The students come with an amazingly positive attitude and some serious culinary skills. For our families, having a home-cooked dinner ready at the end of the day means that they don’t have to worry about grocery shopping or meal preparation. Every time the Grammar School makes a dinner, our families are given more time to spend together. We are lucky to have the support of such a dedicated group!”
