Meet our Current Board Members

The Halifax Grammar School's Board of Governors consists of volunteers from our school communitybe they parents, alumni or the community at large.

Care is taken to nominate individuals with diverse skill sets, experiences, and backgrounds to assist the board in fulfilling its important stewardship responsibilities. We are fortunate to have dedicated and capable individuals serving on the board. Grammar benefits from these collaborative efforts to advance the best interests of the school.

  • Tim Trussell, Chair of the Board



    Tim is the Product Director at ReelData. He is also the founder and principal consultant at AboveTheWater, where he advises start-up businesses in Atlantic Canada. He has business intelligence experience, including significant expertise in data management, information security, and technology development across diverse industries. He has a successful track record of leading large-scale initiatives to adopt and implement data analytics. Tim is also a member of the Cystic Fibrosis Canada board of directors.

    Tim resides in Halifax with his wife, Sanja, and their two children, Emilia '35 and Lucas '32.

  • Nathan Sutherland, Vice-Chair of the Board & Chair of the Governance Committee



    Nathan is a partner in Pink Larkin’s litigation group, with a practice focused on commercial and construction disputes, aboriginal law, natural resources and the environment, and employment law.

    Nathan and his wife, Rachel, have a daughter, Orli '30, who attends Grammar.
  • Chris Wilson, Treasurer of the Board & Chair of the Finance, Audit & Risk Committee

    Chris is counsel and a former partner at McInnes Cooper. He is also part-owner of Keel Group of Companies and Wilson Fuel Co. Limited. He brings both legal experience and past board leadership experience.

    Chris resides in Halifax with his spouse, Lindsay, and their two children, Chloe '30 and Ben '28.
  • Dr. Kate Wood, Secretary of the Board & Chair of the Advancement Committee

    Kate is a former family physician and current Vice President and Director of Camwood Properties and the Walker Wood Foundation. She brings expertise in adolescent health, corporate financial oversight, and fundraising with a deep knowledge of scholarship and bursary management.
     
    She holds her degree in Medicine from the University of Sydney (Australia).
     
    Kate resides in Halifax with her husband, Enrique, and their two children,  Eva '31 and Lucas '33.

  • Victoria Armour



    Victoria has held senior leadership roles at her family's enterprise, Armour Transportation Systems, and leads the family foundation. She is a co-founder of Stil James, Loran Cabinetry, and Bright & Well Wellness Clinic.

    Victoria holds an MBA from Dalhousie University, a BBA from Acadia University, and a Diploma in the study of business in French (DELF).

    Victoria lives in Halifax with her husband, Nader, and their three children, Roman '37, Petra '39, and Jasper '41.
  • Dr. Muna Chowdhury '99



    Dr. Muna Chowdhury is a Grammar alumna and an experienced family physician dedicated to improving access to health care by addressing systemic and structural barriers. In addition to her clinical practice, she holds leadership roles in several national and international health organizations, advancing initiatives related to universal access to primary care, health-care provider wellness, health equity, and structural approaches to reducing barriers to health.

    Muna is also an Assistant Professor at Dalhousie University, where her work focuses on curriculum development that promotes physician humanism. She brings extensive governance experience through service on professional and regulatory boards and committees, including as a former Board Member of Doctors Nova Scotia and a current Board Member of A Way Home Canada.

    Muna holds a Bachelor of Science from Dalhousie University and a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Saskatchewan.

    Muna lives in Halifax with her husband, Pavan, and their two children, Manav '31 and Meera '31.
  • Maurice Fares



    Maurice is the CEO of his family's well-established real estate development and construction organization (WM Fares Group) with active projects across Nova Scotia. He brings expertise in finance, construction, property management, business development, and marketing. 
     
    Maurice resides in Halifax with his wife, Rebecca and their two children, Ava ‘36 and Reese ‘38.
  • Christine Halef-Faddoul



    Christine is a pharmacist and entrepreneur with experience building and leading successful businesses in highly regulated industries. She is currently the owner and operator of Kingsbrook Properties Ltd., a multi-unit residential and commercial real estate development company focused on creating high-quality properties and long-term value.  In addition to her real estate ventures, Christine has a proven track record of founding and scaling a business from the ground up while overseeing regulatory compliance, strategic planning, and operational growth. Her experience includes directing Health Canada regulatory compliance, developing strategic product plans, and conducting market analysis within the healthcare sector. Christine has successfully assembled and led multidisciplinary teams with expertise in finance, operations, quality assurance, and management, providing strong foundations for business growth and execution. Her combination of healthcare expertise, entrepreneurial leadership, and strategic vision enables her to identify opportunities, build high-performing organizations, and drive sustainable business success.

    She holds her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Dalhousie University.

    Christine resides in Halifax with her husband, Joe, and their two children, Joseph '30 and Elijah '32.
  • Veronica Li



    Veronica is an Audit Manager with the Office of the Auditor General of Nova Scotia. She brings 22 years of progressive experience in accounting, financial analysis, auditing, and public-sector financial management. 

    She is an internationally educated accountant with AICPA designation and a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Nova Scotia (CPA NS). She also holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Accounting. 

    Veronica resides in Halifax with her child, Ruoyun (Rachel) Cui '31.
  • Dr. Sathyasai Murty-Chelamkuri, Chair of the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Committee



    Sathyasai Murty-Chelamkuri is a Principal Partner and full-time practicing dentist at Scotia Dental and a Clinical Instructor for the Division of DCS in the Department of Periodontology in the Faculty of Dentistry at Dalhousie University for the past twenty years.
     
    Sathyasai holds her Doctorate in Dentistry from Dalhousie University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree (Honours) in Biology and certification in Molecular Genetics from Saint Mary’s University. She also holds a Fellowship from ICOI.
     
    Sathyasai is committed to excellence and has taken leadership roles on various committees bringing key experience in conflict management, fundraising and new growth initiatives specifically in areas of recruitment and advancement.
     
    Sathyasai and her husband, Sridhar, have two children who attend Grammar: Saidharma ’27 and Srinath ’29.
  • Lisa Park



    Lisa is a seasoned leader with over 28 years of experience leading local, national, cross-functional and virtual teams at KPMG Canada. She brings expertise in Human Resources, Finance, Audit, Strategy and Accessibility.  
     
    She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University, a Chartered Accountant designation, a compensation professional designation, and an accessibility consultant designation.
     
    Lisa resides in Halifax with her husband, Roger and their daughter, Lucy Park '30.
