  • Full-time Facilities Attendants (6)

    The Halifax Grammar School (Grammar) is seeking experienced, motivated and qualified individuals to apply for six (6) full-time positions as Facilities Attendants beginning in June 2026.  This position reports to the Facilities Manager as an important part of the team that maintains our buildings and grounds. 
     
    The Facilities Attendants will be responsible for helping keep our school clean, safe, and ready for students and visitors. Their duties will include cleaning the school, maintaining the grounds, completing basic repairs, and moving furniture for events.
     
    The successful candidate will:
    • Be able to stand for long periods of time, move heavy furniture, and lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
    • Know how to use cleaning supplies and chemicals safely. 
    • Be polite and helpful when talking to our staff and the public.
    • Be available to work evenings and weekends.

    Qualifications:
    • Have worked in cleaning or janitorial roles for 1 to 3 years. 
    • Can use a computer for basic tasks, such as checking your email, receiving job orders or entering your work hours.
    • Previous experience working in an office building or a school would be considered an asset.
    The successful candidate will be subject to passing and maintaining a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector check.

  • Student Life Coordinator

    The Halifax Grammar School (Grammar) is seeking experienced, motivated and qualified individuals to apply for a full-time position as Student Life Coordinator beginning in August 2026.  
     
    The Student Life Coordinator is a critical leadership position that integrates student leadership, wellness and inclusivity initiatives across all divisions, ensuring every student has the resources to flourish and a sense of belonging. The Student Life Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination and implementation of comprehensive student life programs and services designed to foster an inclusive, healthy, and high-achieving student body from Junior Primary through Grade 12. This role directly coordinates the school's commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEIB) and leads Student Leadership and Wellness programming as part of the Student Success Team. 

    The Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, school leadership, Learning Strategists, and IB Programme Coordinators to support the holistic development of students in alignment with the school’s mission, vision, and values. This position does not provide clinical counselling or therapeutic services but plays a key role in student wellbeing, belonging and engagement, and leadership development.

    Qualifications and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree
      (Education, Counselling, Psychology, Leadership, or related field preferred)
    • A minimum of 5 years of experience in an independent school or similar setting, covering multiple divisions
      (e.g., Primary and Secondary)
    • Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health
    • Demonstrated experience managing student support programs 
    • Demonstrated leadership of staff and complex student communities
    • Strong knowledge of DEIB principles, as they relate to student development
    • Exceptional organizational, communication, and conflict resolution skills
